Panel discussion by UN-Habitat under the framework of Manifesta: Urban Safety

Following the recent sexual assault case in a public park in Pristina, demonstrations and numerous threads in the social media have sparked a open debate on this subject and demanded institutional responsibility. Furthermore, the media has been dominated with narratives and cases relating to sexual violence. Prioritizing urban safety is necessary in order to achieve livable, productive, inclusive, and sustainable cities. To address the behaviour of people in public spaces and the various causes of crime and violence, integrated strategies that go beyond traditional security and policing are required.
