Manifesta 14 Prishtina is open for 100 days, starting this summer!
Across 25 different iconic venues – from the Palace of Youth and Sports to the Great Hamman – Manifesta 14 is taking over Prishtina with artistic and urban interventions!
The biennial programme will feature over 100 participants from over 30 countries, who will present exhibitions, events, performances and interventions in public spaces across Prishtina! To guide you along the way, there will be Mediated Tours exploring different themes and locations around the city.
As part of our biennial, we also have an extensive Regional Programme and Schools and Education Programme.
With a radically local approach, the programme is informed by extensive pre-biennial research. This research identified the key concerns for the Prishtina community, and how Manifesta could best address them through their artistic and urbanistic programme.
Under the title It matters what worlds world worlds: how to tell stories otherwise, Manifesta 14 Prishtina’s artistic programme takes up the challenge of exploring collective storytelling. The artistic programme presents over 100 participants, 37% of whom are from Kosovo and a further 23% from the Western Balkans region. Centring around a new permanent cultural institution, the Centre for Narrative Practice, the former Brick Factory, the National Gallery of Kosovo and the Grand Hotel Prishtina the programme kicks off on the 22nd of July and includes exhibitions, performances and interventions.
The Urban Vision, created by CRA-Carlo Ratti Associati prior to the biennial, has shaped the programme by identifying opportunities to reclaim public space for the citizens of Prishtina, a new green space that Manifesta has renovated and locations for the parcours. Manifesta 14 brings together these two pillars, the artistic and the urban, to create a multidisciplinary programme across Prishtina.
To guide local and international visitors alike, there will be a parcours through Prishtina to visit all the interventions as well as Mediated Tours organised by the Education and Mediation team. An integral part of the biennial, the five Mediated Tours encourage visitors to discover more about Prishtina, revealing the stories of the venues where each intervention takes place, while creating a dialogue about this context; a way to see Prishtina, and the interventions, anew.
