Fairytales from my Grandfather: Opening of the exhibition and zine launch
Sami Mustafa is an independent film-maker, producer, and writer. His work explores memory and storytelling, often returning to the stories of his childhood.
For Manifesta 14 Prishtina, he embarked upon a long-term collaborative project with members of the organisation Proud Roma to collect and preserve traditional Roma folktales – and, working with groups of youngsters in their communities, to retell and reframe them to reflect today’s concerns.
Their research and stories will be brought together in multiple forms, including illustrated books, musical storytelling performances and drawings.
Join us at the launch of the publication coming out of this research, “Stories from my grandfather”, a collection of Roma folktale stories told by Roma people in Kosovo this Wednesday at the Centre for Narrative Practice at 18.00.
