Panel discussion organized by UN Habitat: Great public space designs – Great challenges for maintenance

When designing projects for public spaces, municipalities always try to offer better solutions with more attractive designs. However, upon implementation, the municipalities face the challenge of their maintenance.

The lack of human capacity, modern technology equipment, and, above all, the budget for maintenance directly affect the quality of public spaces. In the end, these spaces risk ending up as unusable public spaces.

The panel will discuss the challenges that local institutions and public companies face, the community’s role in maintaining public spaces, and NGOs’ role in increasing awareness of safekeeping and maintaining public spaces.
